Faculty of Catholic Theology at Vytautas Magnus university and Papal University of John Paul II in Krakow invite to take part at International Scientific Conference

” Dignity and vocation of woman”

on occasion 100 anniversary of birth of pope John Paul II.
The plenary sessions of the conference will be held on 2nd of October 2020
at Aula Magna,  Vytautas Magnus University,  Gimnazijos str. 7, Kaunas
The parallel sessions – on line on 2nd of October 2020

“Progress usually tends to be measured according to the criteria of science and technology. Nor from this point of view has the contribution of women been negligible. Even so, this is not the only measure of progress, nor in fact is it the principal one. Much more important is the social and ethical dimension, which deals with human relations and spiritual values. In this area, which often develops in an inconspicuous way beginning with the daily relationships between people, especially within the family, society certainly owes much to the „genius of women”.

 Letter of Pope John Paul II to Women, 1995

The goal of the Conference is a concern “with a broader vision of the situation and problems of women in general, in an attempt to promote the cause of women in the Church and in today’s world” (JPII, Letter to Woman)

THE CONFERENCE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

  1. “The unity of the two”;
  2. “God entrusts the human being to her [woman] in a special way”;
  3. “Two dimensions of woman’s vocation: motherhood -virginity”;
  4. The manifestations of „the feminine genius” in the life of the Church in the Third Millennium.
  5. Dignity and vocation of woman: historical perspective.
